Recycling Stickers

Recycling stickers can be used to help label trash bins, trash cans and trash receptacles in order to help with the sorting of solid waste products from those which can be reused and those which cannot be reused. Recycling can help reduce the number of natural resources used each year to make new products and items by being able to reuse plastic, aluminum, paper and other products in the creation of new products and items.

Prior to the heavy use of plastic bottles, soft drink manufacturers used to use glass bottles and reuse them. The glass bottles were recollected even before recycling stickers and bins were in use, because of certain states placing mandatory bottle deposits on the glass bottles. The bottles were then run through a pasteurization process to sterilize the bottles. The reuse of bottles helped eliminate the need of having to create new bottles. Over time, manufacturers switched to plastic bottles because they were less expensive to make than reusing the glass bottles.

Today, manufacturers use less glass bottles and more plastic bottles, which place a strain on our natural resources. Plastic bottles are filled with drinking water, soft drinks, dairy products and juices. All plastics are stamped with a symbol on the bottle which indicates the type of plastic the bottle is made out of, which most of the time can be recycled. Placing plastic bottles in the proper recycle bins labeled with recycling stickers can help reduce the number of plastic bottles ending up in landfills rather than being reused.

Not all types of plastics can be recycled and reused because of what the plastic materials are made out of and the process used to create the plastic item. The plastic caps on the top of soda bottles are made out of a different plastic than the bottles. Certain plastics which are layered or made with a mix of other materials are difficult to recycle. recycling stickers used on sorting bins at recycling centers can help sort plastics by the code and number stamped on the items and products.

Paper is another widely used product which most types can be recycled and reused to create new paper products. Newspapers are one of the better known paper products which have been recycled for many years. The old newspapers are collected, sent to a processing facility and then turned back into newspapers. Other paper products are now being recycled as well and the use of recycling stickers on paper collection bins can help people put the correct paper product into the correct recycling bin.
